DSL/WIRELESS networking configurations

  
Hubs & Wireless Access Points

*Linksys EtherFast 5 port 10/100Mbps Hub
*D-Link DWL-1000AP Wireless Access Point 

In order to setup a standard network, CAT5 cable is run from each of the client computers to the network hub.  Each of the client computers must have a Network Interface Card (NIC) installed.  A wireless Access point ca be plugged into a wired Hub in order to provide networking to client computers with Wireless NICs.

Cable/DSL Gateway/Routers

* Belkin 4 port Cable/DSL Gateway/Router - 4 10/100Mbps ports
* Belkin Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway/Router - Wireless and 3  10/100Mbps ports

In order to setup a network and share a broadband Internet connection, a Gateway/Router is used instead of a Hub or Wireless Access Point.  If the location is not already wired, or if you want to have mobile access throughout your house or office, select the Wireless Gateway/Router.  If your house or office already has CAT5 cable run to each client computer and you don't wish have mobile access, select the Wired Gateway/Router.


Wired Network Adapters

* Linksys USB 10/100Mbps Network adapter - for either a Desktop or Notebook CPU
* Generic PCI 10/100BT NIC - for Desktop CPU's
* Generic PCMCIA Notebook 10/100BT NIC - for Notebook CPU's
* Belkin PCMCIA card / PCI slot adapter - Needed to install a PCMCIA card in a desktop CPU. 

Each computer on the network must have a Network Interface Card (NIC) installed.   If you have a wired network, select one of these above.  The PCI NIC and the PCMCIA > PCI slot adapter require internal installation.

*  Belkin Wireless PCMCIA Notebook 10Mbps NIC - for Notebook CPU's
*  Belkin Wireless USB 10Mbps Network adapter - for either a Desktop or Notebook CPU
*  Belkin PCMCIA card > PCI slot adapter - Needed to install a PCMCIA card in a desktop CPU

Each computer on the network must have a Network Interface Card (NIC) installed.   If you have a wired network, select one of these above.  The PCI NIC and the PCMCIA  PCI slot adapter require internal installation.
